1.      Glance at the picture. What is your first ‘gut’ response?

2.      Consider your background knowledge. What do you already know about the context of the picture – the time, place, situation, etc.? (list key facts)

Closer Look: How do the pictures techniques help to present the message?

  1. Glance at the picture. What is your first ‘gut’ response?
That our immigration process is very slow and trudeau is lazy and does not help at all
And there's a lot of people coming into canada

    2. Consider your kground knowledge. What do you already know about the context of the picture – the time, place, situation, etc.? (list key facts)

The context of the picture is saying that the immigration takes a really long time.Justin Trudeau is sitting and watching in the background, while the guy who is reading the names is the leader of the immigration process who is John Mccallum. It takes place at the canadian border and there is fighting in the backround.

    3. Find labels. How do the words, numbers, etc. in the drawing express ideas or identify people or objects? What message do the labels send? (use the information provided about the picture in the words below the picture as well)
Trudeau in the background is saying that all immigrants and refugees in the background are a huge task to deal with and he is just laying on his royal bed just eating grapes doing nothing about it. All the refugees are waiting to be let into to canada by john mccallum because trudeau said he would bring them all into canada and there getting killed while they wait because you can see the bomber planes in the background.

    4. Notice the people in the picture. How do their facial expressions (exaggerated, oversimplified, emotional features of the figures) add to the effect of the picture? What message does this send to the reader? Justin trudeau the man sitting in the corner is just relaxing while he has his immigration minister doing all the work he is looks upset or mad.Justin seems as happy as could be while he lays back even though there is a war and immigrants wanting to get into canada,he seems to not care.

    5. Identify the symbols (clothing, religious, cultural, etc.). What do these signs or images represent? Is there a lack of symbols in the picture, why? How does this add to the message of the picture?

The clothing is related to ancient rome, and the canadian flag is in the background. The border is a symbol saying that our borders are really strong. All of these symbols add to the picture because it makes the message more clearly.

    6. Identify possible biases. Whose perspective or point of view is expressed in the Photograph? This is a conservative point of view because it is slamming Justin Trudeau and the immigration process. The person who made this cartoon sees Justin as lazy and leaves all the Immigration problems to his minister of immigration the people are being leting in very slowly and there is a war going on in the background so they need to make a differnt decision to ethier let them in or not let them in at all.

    7. Explain the overall message of the photograph. A good interpretation is specific and detailed.
There is a lot of people trying to get into canada but it is taking a long time because there is only one person doing it because justin trudeau is a lazy prime minister and refuses to help. But he still said that he would let 250 000 refugees in. plus they are getting bombed while they are waiting to come in

  2. Political Cartoon - Chapter 5
1.My first impression is that John Mccallum is taking all the immigrants in. Justin Trudeau is in the back relaxing while John is doing all the work.

2.We know that it’s talking about Canada because there is a maple leaf in the background. We know that John McCallum is the minister of immigration. Justin Trudeau is the prime minister and doesn’t do anything.

3.On the brief case we can see that it says John McCallum who is the minister of immigration, then you can see the banner above him saying welcome migrants. So we know that we are dealing with immigration. You can see Justin Trudeau sitting on his side relaxing while John is doing all the work.

4.Justin Trudeau has a really big nose and the list of immigrants is really long and filled with names of people who want to come to canada.

5.There is a maple leaf in the background to represent the Canadian flag. Justin Trudeau and John Maccallum are wearing greek outfits showing that there in the greek ages. Justin Trudeau is saying this is “Herculean Task” which further proves this point.

6.It’s from the perspective of someone who thinks there is too many refugees and immigrants coming into Canada. They also think that Trudeau is lazy and everyone else does the work for them.

7.The overall message is that Justin Trudeau and John Maccallum are being in a lot of immigrants, and so many want to escape from the danger. Justin Trudeau is being lazy and not really helping, while John Maccallum looks exhausted.
